World Mental Health Day
Today will be a short one, as I’m already laying in bed, but I wanted to get something out today. Today is World Mental Health Day! I’m so thankful that mental health is finally becoming a thing that is okay to talk about. I just want to share a quick little idea with you for World Mental Halth Day. This past week I had a teacher training. At this training there were many sessions you could pick. Of course I picked one about students’ mental health. That is my passion as a teacher. Every year I see more and more kids with anxiety, depression, low self asteem, etc. All of those things that trick our brains into believing something that is false. As the wife of a man with anxiety I feel for these kids, I love them a little extra, I’m more relaxed in certain ways, and I try to focus on them as a human, not just a kid. I truly believe that being with Matt has made me a better and more compassionate teacher, and for that I’m truly thankful. So when you find yourself upset, angry, or frustrated with the person with anxiety in your life put yourself in their shoes and remember it’s worse for them. Take a step back, take a few moments to get it together, and keep loving them hard. It’s want they want, need, and deserve.
So happy World Mental Health Day from the other side of anxiety.
We are the other side.
